2009 SUMMER CAMPS AT NEW LIFE CHURCH

We have a variety of top-notch summer camps happening this year at New Life! For the first time ever, all our camps will be held in the Children's & Youth Centre (CYC)! A short description of each camp appears below, with a link to more information and registration.

 July 6-10: Mad Science Rocket Camp
Yes we are Rocket Scientists! All things rocket will be explored. This action packed week focuses on the physics of rocket flight, the parts of a rocket and rocket launches. Campers will build several types of rockets and participate in the launching of at least 10 different rockets. Children will be divided into three groups for each rocket launch; Altitude Trackers, Launch Preparers and Launchers. They will have the opportunity to experience all three roles over the course of the week. Camp-Day Themes include: Rocket Basics, Rocket Flight, Mission Control, Rocket Propulsion & Recovery, Go For Launch.

 July 13-17: Worship in Motion Dance Camp
Great for boys and girls with a special celebration presentation at the end of camp week for parents and friends. Suitable for 6 to 12 year olds. Registration includes camp t-shirt, pizza lunch on Friday and 2 tickets to Friday evening dance celebration. Bonus - all camp registrants have the opportunity to minister with the WIM Children's Team during the summer.

 July 20-24: Drama Camp
Calling all aspiring actors! Drama Camp is a great way to introduce 7-11 year-olds to the Dramatic Arts. Includes a field trip to see The Sound of Music live in Toronto! Kids will learn the ins and outs of drama, including acting techniques, vocal coaching, musical expression, make-up, storytelling, mime, set design, and more! For safety and security reasons, all children must wear a 2009 New Life Church Summer Camp T-Shirt. These are available for $15.

Cost: $100. ($115 if T-Shirt is needed) Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

 July 27-31: Mad Science Claws, Codes & Constellations Camp
A week of sleuthing, investigation and discovery await campers. Secret code wheels, morse code and hidden messages will be decoded. We will hunt down animal tracks and follow scent trails during a day of nature discoveries. The wonders of gravity, balance and the science behind the illusive sweet spot will be investigated. Everyone will be challenged not to break an egg during our crazy egg toss. A renewed appreciation for the earth and the role science can play in preserving our planet will emerge. The marvels of astronomy will be revealed when we make a telescope. Camp-Day Themes include: Mad Messages, Earth Awareness, The Science of Sport, Nature, Space.

 August 10-14: MEGA SPORTS Training Camp
Sign your 6-11 year-olds up for this great week of soccer, basketball and teamwork! Children will be split into age appropriate groups where they will learn to develop their skills. Activities include basic skills, playing techniques, games, game plans, huddle groups, teamwork, character building, healthy snacks, prizes, and more! For safety and security reasons, all children must wear a 2009 New Life Church Summer Camp T-Shirt, available for $15.

Cost: $100, immediate family discounts available: 1st child $100, 2nd child $80, 3rd child $60. T-Shirts $15 extra if needed. Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

 August 17-21: Mad Science Beasts, Bridges & Brews Camp
Campers will shake, rattle and roll the world of simple machines as they are challenged to build bridges and a four foot high Geodesic Dome. Everyone will speak bird and be a bit buggy while they build bug and bird houses. Mixing, mashing and brewing will result in cool sidewalk chalk and bath fizzers during a day in the chemistry lab. The wonders of photography will be revealed as children learn about cameras, light and colours. Camp-Day Themes include: Jr. Engineers, Machine Mania, Crazy Chemistry, The Birds & The Beasts, Shutterbugs.

 August 24-28: Girls of Destiny Camp
Girls of Destiny is a week-long camp for girls ages 11 - 16. This year’s summer camp is designed to help today’s girls become women who will succeed in life! Each day is set in a fun and welcoming environment with active learning workshops led by leaders and guest speakers who are experts in their field. Daily activities focus on a multitude of themes that every young woman needs to learn and will feature many of the Girls of Destiny themes, including crock-pot creations, team building activities, leadership lessons, purity, etiquette, fitness, beauty and self esteem, and more!

Cost: $150. Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Registration deadline is August 2.
